Hazelwood necklaces are made from the branches of a hazelwood tree alternated with Baltic amber beads or gemstones for ornamentation. They are handmade - from the gathering of the wood to the stringing of the beads.
Baltic Amber is not a stone, but a fossilized tree resin. Each bead is a beautiful and unique piece of history - a fossil from an ancient forest! Genuine Baltic Amber is 100% natural and is available in a variety of colors. Because of this, *each* piece of Baltic Amber jewelry we sell is one-of-a-kind. Our Baltic Amber comes from amber mines near the Baltic Sea. The jewelry is handcrafted in Lithuania by our team of Amber Artisans.
Sizing is important! Never buy your child a "one size fits all" necklace. To find the most appropriate length for your child, we recommend measuring using a piece of yarn. You should be able to put two fingers between your child's neck and the necklace and the child should not be able to reach the necklace to his/her mouth.
Our necklaces are made for wearing, never for chewing!
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
For children, remove jewelry during nap and sleep times. Hazelwood may be worn while bathing, however it should not be worn in swimming pools -- chlorine can damage the wood.
Children must be supervised while wearing jewelry. The necklaces are designed, however, with the safety of children in mind. Each bead is individually knotted on the strand. This means that if the necklace were to break, only one small bead would be released rather than all of the beads on the strand. Our necklaces are available with plastic screw clasps with a safety release built in.
LIFE SPAN OF A HAZELWOOD NECKLACE
Don't be alarmed if/when the bark comes off the hazelwood beads - the wood beads will change over time.
